Beware of Talech, honesty coming from a sales agent...

As a in independent Talech sales agent I have first hand witnessed the debacle that Talech has become, especially since the pandemic. I have heard dogs barking in the background, screaming kids, television sets blaring and dishwasher or laundry running over the past year, nearly every single call I place to Talech. Not only that, but my clients have hold times for up to an hour, get transferred constantly or given wrong information, just to get my clients off the phone. This typically results in me driving out to the business and placing the call to Talech myself and going through the same painful mess if nonsense that my clients are going through. I love Elavon (the processor that owns Talech) but I will never ever sell another Talech system as long as I'm in business.

7 Years of Talech

7 Years of Talech, here is a comrehensive review of why I'm finally done. First off, Talech is simple and easy to use, the backend is filled with over complicated features, but we have altered them to our needs. The pricing structure has been good, until now. Service is pretty poor, sometimes it takes weeks to fix a problem, and occassionally they just say "it's a bug" and your stuck with it. Not a great feeling when you are relying on a system to calculate things like labor cost, and sales taxes. The sales team does a lot of holding off giving you what you need, in hopes of you just going with what they want you to buy. They will try every little trick to wait you out, by sending you contracts you didn't sign up for. Expect 3 weeks between getting your first contract to sign, and actually getting the contract you are asking for. Backend reporting functions have gone downhill, I used to be able to view 1-2months of data at a time, but now they are limiting that to 2 weeks on many reports, also access to data outside of talech is done through a CSV and good luck getting the data to populate to excel very well.Now for the bad. They are dropping all thier long term clients because they want you to use their credit card processor. Elavon is an absolutely horrible company to work with. Their fees and percentages are through the roof, everything you need like credit card processing has to be bought directly from them, is unuseable on another processor, and they charge 3-4 times the price for that equipment. Elavon is actually US Bank, and they will send out an "elavon" specialist to get you to sign on, then you are stuck paying through the roof. Our local bank does our processing now, and costs are roughly half or less what Elavon charges. Also many features, like loyalty functions are Elavon only. So unless you deal with US Bank for your business (what a mistake) this is more or less an impossible choice for you.For the past few years we have been able to use USA E-Pay (for $10 a month) for our transactions through our local bank, but have been informed that after October 1st that will no longer be possible. Well Talech, I'm not in a million years touching Elavon or US Bank, so your losing a loyal customer that has jumped through every hoop to keep you as our system. Save yourself the trouble, this system continues to degrade, and Talech seems cheap, until they tell you who you have to bank with, and start adding fee's to every small feature you want. I'm not sure where we are headed to now, but I can say with 100% certainty that we will find a company that supports it's customers rather then their shareholders.7 years of talech, from quick service bakery, and now full service restaurant, bar and bakery.

I have had nothing but problems

I have had nothing but problems. DO NOT USE TALECH. The customer support is non-existent. Most times I have had to figure out the solution on my own.Here's the nightmare story....In either October or November, some not very bright decision was made by Talech to do an update. When I did the update, the scanning no longer was an option. Now mind you, we at the retail level we are in our BUSIEST season of the year and now we can't scan anything. I called customer support sooo many times I lost count for 5 months. NOBODY could figure out the problem. But the problem wasn't only scanning! The problem also included any items I had entered into the inventory would not come up in the system. So now my employees are using the custom key to try to ring people out (HAD LINES WAITING!) and this caused my inventory to be all out of whack. I'm still dealing with fixing my inventory and having to PAY my staff extra hours to correct a TALECH mistake. IT'S BY FAR IS THE WORST and COSTLY EXPERIENCE I'VE EVER DEALT WITH. Suddenly about a month ago, it all starting working again. I assume Talech fixed the issue on their end but customer support is useless. I still to this day have never even gotten a phone call back but I got a TON of tickets opened with NO fix by support. My suggestion: Stay away....its garbage.

Bad support

The software - when it's working, does a fine job.Tech support, on the other hand, is horrible. They say they have 24X7 support, but anything that actually NEEDS support is a 48 hour response time. A menu update done by tech support screwed up, and we were then told, oh well, we did that on Friday night, now you have to wait until Monday before anyone might be able to address the issue. Complete insanity to allow an entire business to be shut down for the weekend. That's NOT 24X7 support.
